Alana Beard's Future had 4 players selected to attend the Showcase.
(Aleah Epps, Jade Scaife, Tasia Butler & Camille Calhoun).
The most players from any one program. The showcase consisted of
the top 30/girls in the area from the class of 2013. Below is the
report:
The
IH and The Real Basketball Report were in the building yesterday,
discriminating sports fans, peeping game, as some of the MD/DC/VA/WV
region's top rising-freshmen--the 2013-class babies--showed out.
The RBR's standout dozen (in alphabetical order):
- Lindsay Allen, 5-6, St. John's College/Washington, D.C.;
a coach's point guard, who can shoot and score, and who always thinks
one step ahead;
- Infiniti Alston, 6-5, Western/Baltimore, Maryland;
a force of nature, who's the impact post in the age group when
comfortable on the court;
- Zoe Beard-Fails, 6-2, South Lakes/Reston, Virginia;
a physical, contact-loving, hard-hat-and-lunch-pail grinder, who has a
nose for rebounds;
- Tasia Butler, 6-0, North Point/Waldorf, Maryland;
a jack-of-all-trades, who's more athletic and physical than you think,
and has very high IQ;
- Camille Calhoun, 5-10, Bowie/Bowie, Maryland;
a high-energy, high-motor, very athletic--ups-wise--playmaker and
rebounder, at both ends;
- Tyshara Fleming, 6-3, Salem/Virginia Beach, Virginia;
a very long, with lots of extension, and with some ups, shot-blocker/alterer,
who can run;
- Tychel King, 5-9, St. Frances Academy/Baltimore, Maryland;
a lock-down defender, all arms and legs, who can run/jump/slide, and can
shoot it, a bit;
- Adrienne Motley, 5-8, Hampton Roads Academy/Newport News,
Virginia;
a problem, in the open court with the ball in her hands, and some nice
slashing shiftiness;
- Jade Sciafe, 5-11, Bishop McNamara/Forestville,
Maryland;
a consummate player you never pay attention to, who ends up making and
finishing plays;
- Ataijah Taylor, 5-8, Salem/Salem, Virginia;
a power guard, who bodies-up on defense, and who slashes with authority
on offense;
- Jannah Tucker, 6-0, Western/Baltimore, Maryland;
a basketball body, always as athletic as the situation requires, and
usually makes the correct play;
- Danielle Webster, 5-9, Hampton Roads Academy/Newport News,
Virginia;
a smaller version of Jade Sciafe, with a little more quicks, and a
little more slickness.
